John W. Baldridge
Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Baldridge is a seasoned international business executive. He has experience in several business sectors, including: pharmaceuticals, medical devices, food, consumer goods, industrial biotechnology, biopolymers and environmental science. He has been awarded patents in biofilm control, protein fermentation and surface energy chemistry. Mr. Baldridge has held senior domestic and international management positions at Mead Johnson International, Bristol Myers International, and Universal Foods Corporation. He negotiated and closed more than 150 product licenses, joint ventures, subsidiaries and distribution agreements with major international corporations in the U.S., and in more than 60 countries in Europe, Asia and Latin America. He was a founder of 5 start-up companies that became NASDAQ publicly traded firms and CEO or a Senior Officer of three of these firms. Mr. Baldridge has a Masters in Business Administration from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and a Bachelor of Science from Marquette University.
G.M. (Bill) Torres
President and Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Torres was the Founder, President, CEO and principal shareholder of Serrot International until its sale to Waste Management, Inc. Serrot became the world’s largest manufacturer and installer of geosynthetic linings with manufacturing facilities in the U.S., Canada, Chile, and Germany. Serrot did field lining installations in over 80 countries, and generated sales of $200 million selling into the solid waste, wastewater, mining, and agriculture industries. Mr. Torres holds patents in the fields of geomembranes and leak detection systems. Prior to founding Serrot, Mr. Torres worked eleven years with Ameron in the U.S. and its foreign subsidiaries. Ameron is a major concrete and steel pipe manufacturer for the water and wastewater industries in the municipal and industrial market place. Mr. Torres is a registered professional engineer in the State of California and earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois.
Carl W. Podella
Founder, Executive Vice President, Research and Development
Mr. Podella is an applications scientist with expertise in new product creation; design and development, including patenting new technology, regulatory affairs, manufacturing process design, and marketing plan development. Mr. Podella holds patents in surfactant chemistry and its applications. As a Senior Technology Specialist in International Research and Development for S.C. Johnson & Son, Inc. for twenty-seven years, Mr. Podella led a team of chemists and technicians, started subsidiary companies in international territories, managed product accounts averaging more than $200 million in annual sales, performed research and development projects in several foreign countries, and launched more than one hundred products worldwide. Mr. Podella attended the University of Wisconsin and took additional coursework at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
Michael G. Goldfeld
Director – Corporate Research
Dr. Goldfeld joined the company in 2003. He previously held senior research and professorial positions in various academic, governmental and corporate organizations, including NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, the University of California-Irvine, and over 15 years as a head of research at the Institute of Chemical Physics, Moscow. His area of expertise is in biophysical chemistry, surface and membrane science. He authored over 120 peer-reviewed research papers, monographs, textbooks; and holds patents in the fields of agricultural chemistry, bioactive compounds and surfactants. Dr. Goldfeld holds an MS degree in chemistry from the Moscow University, and PhD and DSc from the Russian Academy of Sciences.
