Bilgewater Treatment
The contamination of bilgewater with diesel, lube oil, hydraulic fluids, gasoline and other hydrocarbon based fuels and specialty chemicals is a constant problem for marine vessels. Bilges can no longer be pumped into harbors, bays, lakes, nor open seas, and severe financial or forfeiture of license penalties are exacted for violations. Consequently, bilgewater must be pumped ashore and then trucked or piped to industrial waste treatment facilities at great cost. A recent news release reported an aircraft carrier, docked in Florida, spent $700,000 in one week to maintain its bilges in compliance with local guidelines.

ABC's technology provides a breakthrough solution in the field of bilgewater treatment compliance. The company's products degrade and eliminate the hydrocarbon contaminants at the molecular level and then they convert some of breakdown constituents, such as the fatty acids, into new surfactant like cleaning materials. This technology is particularly useful for small pleasure boats.

During a recent independent laboratory test, ABC's product was compared with one of the largest selling bilgewater treatment products for private pleasure craft. In summary, the conventional, caustic product with a diluted pH of 11.5, broke down or eliminated 67% of the contaminant in 48 hours. The ABC product, with a virtually neutral pH of 6.6 for the diluted product, eliminated 67% of the diesel contamination in 27 minutes and completely eliminated 100% of the diesel fuel in three and one-half hours.
