President and Chief Executive Officer
Chris is an expert in leading companies through periods of transformation, commercialization of technology and rapid commercial growth. Prior to joining Advanced BioCatalytics, Chris was President of Leading Edge Aviation Services, an aerospace paint and coatings company, which has transformed from a privately held company to an institutionally owned, global market share leader. Prior to that Chris ran a manufacturing company of power generation equipment through a similar growth and transformation process. He first gained growth company experience as CFO of Day Software, which he managed from the start-up phase, through international expansion, IPO and ultimately a strategic sale to Adobe Software. Early in his career Chris was a CPA at Price Waterhouse performing audit, consulting, mergers & acquisitions and business turnarounds. Chris holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of California, Los Angeles and an MS in the Management of Technology from the Sloan School of Management at MIT. He is a Certified Public Accountant.
Carl W. Podella
Founder, Executive Vice President, Research and Development
Carl is an applications scientist with expertise in new product creation; design and development, including patenting new technology, regulatory affairs, manufacturing process design, and marketing plan development. He holds patents in surfactant chemistry and its applications. As a Senior Technology Specialist in International Research and Development for S.C. Johnson & Son, Inc. for twenty-seven years, Carl led a team of chemists and technicians, started subsidiary companies in international territories, managed product accounts averaging more than $200 million in annual sales, performed research and development projects in several foreign countries, and launched more than one hundred products worldwide. Carl attended the University of Wisconsin and took additional coursework at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
Larry T. Co
Senior Chemist, Research and Development
Larry joined Advanced BioCatalytics as a Senior Chemist in 2018. Larry has a total of 12 years’ experiences working in chemistry research labs, including 5 years in academic organic synthesis labs and 7 years in industrial R&D labs. Larry always found great pleasure in exploring new technologies and helping people. R&D definitely connects both of them perfectly. Larry began his career as an Associate Chemist at Avery Dennison to develop functional polyurethane-based top coatings for easy-cleaning applications. Larry was the R&D Lab Manager of ChemEOR, Inc, a chemical company providing chemicals used in well stimulation and Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR), while Larry led a team to develop functional polyacrylamide-based co-polymer for EOR applications. Larry holds a BS in Chemistry and Biochemistry from Chinese Culture University, Taiwan, a master’s degree in Organic Chemistry from California State University, Fullerton, and a second master’s degree in Product Design and Development Management from Northwestern University.
Chief Financial Officer
Jon joined Advanced BioCatalytics as CFO in September 2018. In this position, he is responsible for the overall financial strategy and direction of the Company. Prior to joining ABC, Jon held financial leadership roles with companies in the consumer products space. He started his career in the audit and assurance practice at Moss Adams. Throughout his career in accounting, auditing and financial planning, Jon has established a reputation for building teams and aligning financial and operational metrics to support business strategy and growth. Jon is a CPA and holds a BS in Accounting from California State University, San Bernardino.
Vice President, Production and Q.C.
Morgan joined the team after spending nine years in water treatment. He began as a mechanical engineer of large scale desalinization plants, eventually transitioning to a commercial and applications role with GE’s filters and membranes. He has commercial and design experience with water treatment systems used across several markets including oil and gas, wastewater, power, and food and beverage. His role at Advanced BioCatalytics is to design and manage the production process, ensuring quality and performance. He holds a BS in mechanical and ocean engineering from MIT.

Wenjie Xia, Ph.D.
Dr. Xia is Professor of Microbiology Department, NANKAI University. His research interests are in the area of Enhanced Oil Recovery, organic pollutant degradation: water & soil bioremediation, biosynthesis: biosurfactant, biopolymer, enzyme, solvent, CO2 and CH4 bio-conversion.
David Schechter, Ph.D.
Dr. Schechter is Associate Professor, Aghorn Energy Career development Professor, Harold Vance Department of Petroleum Engineering, Texas A&M University. Dr. Schechter’s interests are in: Spraberry Trend Area, Geological and petrophysical analysis, Wettability determination and imbibition experiments, Numerical modeling, Reservoir simulation, and CO2 flooding and gas injection.
